Pro Tip: The Real Reason Arizona Homes Need RO Water

"Did you know Arizona has some of the hardest water in the entire United States? In many parts of the state, water hardness levels can exceed 300 parts per million (ppm) — over three times higher than the national average!"

What Is Reverse Osmosis?

Benefits of a Reverse Osmosis System

A Reverse Osmosis system gives your home cleaner, fresher-tasting water for drinking, cooking, coffee, and tea—all while removing harmful contaminants like chlorine, lead, sediment, fluoride, and arsenic. It also saves you money by eliminating the need for pricey bottled water, and it's an eco-friendly choice that reduces plastic waste and lowers your overall carbon footprint.

RO Filter Replacement Guide for Homeowners

How to Replace Your RO Filters at Home

1. Turn off the water supply

Shut off the cold-water valve under the sink.

2. Release pressure

Open the RO faucet for a few seconds to relieve pressure in the system.

3. Remove the filter housings

Use your RO wrench and twist the housings counterclockwise.

4. Take out the old filters

Remove and discard the used filters.

5. Insert the new filters

Place each new filter into the correct housing and make sure it's seated properly.

6. Tighten the housings

Turn them clockwise until they're snug (don't overtighten).

7. Turn the water back on

Slowly reopen the cold-water valve.

8. Check for leaks & flush

Inspect for leaks and run the RO faucet for a few minutes to flush the system.

Changing your RO filters yourself is a quick, cost-effective way to keep your water fresh, clean, & great-tasting. Replace them every 6–12 months to prevent buildup, protect your system, and save money.

If you'd prefer a professional to handle it, Now Plumbing can replace your filter for you, just call 480-802-2775.

Whole-Home RO Systems

Our whole-home RO systems filter all incoming water, delivering pure water from every tap—perfect for homes with high minerals or heavy contaminants.

The Problem with Hard Water in Arizona

Hard water is full of calcium, magnesium, and other minerals that can cause buildup in your pipes, appliances, and fixtures. While these minerals aren't harmful to your health, they can:

  • Leave stubborn white spots on dishes and glassware
  • Create scale buildup in faucets, showerheads, and plumbing lines
  • Reduce the lifespan and efficiency of water heaters and appliances
  • Give your water a cloudy appearance or bitter taste

Why an RO System is the Perfect Solution

Reverse Osmosis systems go far beyond what basic water filters or softeners can do. They remove not just the minerals that cause hardness, but also chlorine, fluoride, lead, and other contaminants that affect taste, odor, and overall water quality.

In Arizona, where hard water is a daily battle, an RO system means:

  • Crystal-clear, great-tasting drinking water right from your tap

  • Less scale buildup in coffee makers, kettles, and cooking pots

  • Better tasting coffee, tea, and recipes

  • Peace of mind knowing your water is free from harmful contaminants
